Capital Track Improvement Program - Connecticut

The project involved upgrading the track system to improve the operational speeds. The system can now meet Class 6-7 track requirements for travel speeds up to 110 mph. This major upgrade was a significant component in the Northeast Corridor Improvements from Washington to Boston. Most of the work in this project revolved around the physical upgrades to the track bed including alignment, ballast upgrade, and installation of concrete railroad ties. Garg provided construction inspection services to this project and also performed the following tasks:

Bridge Survey:

Top of rail at stringers and bearings, top of rail across structure, top of rail approaches to structures, ties locations, tie quality, rail information, structural members, plate change location, span location, survey control, rivet lines, walkways, other data (as necessary), cross bracing, guard railing, coordination with State and other consultants, paper roll plans and other information (as necessary).

General Survey:

Garg is also providing two survey crews for the duration of the project.
