Old Gate Lane Realignment and Capacity Improvements

Old Gate Lane is a two-lane bi-directional roadway which runs under a Metro-North Railroad bridge, which is being rehabilitated. The roadway will be expanded into a four-lane bi-directional roadway with a sidewalk. Garg is responsible for the final design of this roadway expansion. Included in this work is the adjustment of the horizontal and vertical alignment to obtain proper sight distances and vertical clearance from the railroad structure. In addition, a proper drainage system is required.

The major project tasks include:

Horizontal and vertical alignment review
Drainage design, including water quality and quantity control
Traffic signal engineering
DEP permitting: inland wetlands, flood plain management, tidal wetlands, coastal area management, ROW acquisition review
Utility relocation
Safety Assessment
