Meadowlands Maintenance Complex Facility Expansion - NJ Transit

NJ Transit's car and locomotive fleet is likely to increase by 50% by the year 2006.  The objective of this project was to add car and locomotive maintenance facilities, train storage capacity and train washing capability to meet requirements of future growth to ensure increased reliability of the fleet and reduce long-term maintenance costs.  To this end, the Meadowlands Maintenance Complex facility expansion entails the construction of a new train washer and support buildings, 17,000 linear feet of new electrified track, and expansion of various service and inspection facilities.

GCS was responsible for the design of the overhead catenary system.

  • Structure and erection diagrams
  • Track wiring layout plans and sectionizing arrangements
  • Mounting and grounding arrangement of disconnect switches
