The M2 Critical System Replacement (CSR) project provides for the replacement, overhaul and upgrading of certain mechanical, electrical and electronic components and customer environment systems on the existing 241 (CTDOT 120 cars, MTA 121 cars) M2 Electric Multiple Units.  In-kind replacement has been planned for the propulsion systems, HVAC systems, air compressors and pipeline fittings, trucks, flooring, doors and windows, seats, paneling and interior fittings.  In addition, improvements have been planned for the automatic train control (ATC) system, auxiliary power inverter and blower, heat ground relay, and plumbing system.  The project on completion, will prolong the useful life of the M2 cars until 2015, when the final delivery of replacement rolling stock is planned to enter New Haven line service.

GCS is providing project management oversight and inspection services for this project.
