Brookfield Repair Facility Renovation

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is replacing a functionally obsolete repair facility on Federal Road in Brookfield, CT. The project involves the construction of a new building with a 15,000 square-foot bay area and a 6,000 square-foot office area, and will include operational sections for vehicle repair, a materials storage stockroom, private office areas and supporting office spaces. The new facility will be built on the site of the existing repair facility at the intersection of routes 7 and 202. The existing repair facility will be demolished.
Other improvements will include the construction of a 3,200 square-foot cold storage building, removal of an existing cold storage building, motor fuel island and underground tanks; installation of motor fuel above-ground storage tanks, motor fuel island, new pavement where necessary; site drainage system improvements; and connection to utilities.

Completed Tasks
Garg Consulting Services, Inc. is providing Construction Engineering and Inspection Services for this project. Project tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight and inspection of all construction operations.
- Office Engineering duties including the use of SiteManager software for project controls, including the submission of Daily Work Reports.
- Use of newly adopted Compass software for digital filing.
- Engineering recommendations related to submittals, working drawings, and technical reviews of work contemplated by the construction contract.
- Investigate and facilitate resolutions to technical problems or design issues associated with the construction of the project.
- Prepare and submit for approval all construction orders and all monthly, and final pay estimates.
- Confer regularly with CTDOT’s Project Engineer to resolve issues and plan future activities to ensure proper allocation of staffing and resources.
