Rehabilitation of Bridge 03093, I-91 Over Front Street & Quinnipiac River
Bridge No. 03093 was built in 1964 and has undergone several rehabilitations since then. It is a four-span steel multi-girder structure that carries I-91 over Front Street and the Quinnipiac River between Exits 7 and 8. At this location, I-91 NB and SB each have four (4) lanes and are divided by a concrete median barrier. Directly below the southern span, Front Street has one (1) lane in each direction and a sidewalk on the south side of the road.

Completed Tasks

- Performed structural repairs to the topside of the bridge including the replacement of the bridge deck joints, replacement of the bridge deck membrane and overlay, and patching deck concrete from the top.
- Repairs to the underside of the bridge included steel repairs, spot painting, installation of redundant systems at pin and hanger assemblies, and substructure repairs.
- Maintenance and protection of traffic was accomplished with temporary off-peak lane and shoulder closures.
